Ingredients

How to make it

  • Slice the baguette into 1/4 inch slices, starting about an inch from one end. Try not to cut all the way through the bottom crust, as you will want to have a place for the extra butter to land.
  • Tear off a 2 foot piece of aluminum foil, and place the sliced baguette on it.
  • Melt the cube of butter, and mix in the garlic.
  • With a pastry brush, apply a LIBERAL amount of garlic butter to both sides of each mini-slice. (Now you know why the foil comes in handy....) When done, you should have about a third or less of the butter mixture left. If necessary, repeat this step. Note: Sometimes I can't find my brush, so I just drizzle the butter in between the slices.....sigh....
  • Sprinkle the freshly grated cheese in between each slice, reserving about 1/4 cup for the top.
  • Drizzle the remaining butter over the top of the baguette, and top with the extra cheese.
  • Fold the foil over the baguette to create a nice seal, and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 10 to 15 minutes, until the bread is suitably warmed.
  • To serve, simply bring the foil wrapped baguette out, place the whole thing on a narrow breadboard or in a basket, and tell your guests to sample....
  • They will have to "tear" the slices off the "loaf", and that's what makes this simple addition such a treat.
  • Don't ask for calorie or other nutritional info please, just make sure you know a great cardiologist '-)

Serve this with a good pasta....ha! To me, fresh garlic and lots of it, is the way to go! I've been to the garlic festival in Gilroy, Ca for several summers and you can smell the garlic as you drive through the town! Great food and lots of people...very hot weather, usually. The only thing I can't bring myself to try is the free Garlic Ice Cream they serve....lol!

Sounds just like the stuff I make at home! :o) And 1 tsp is not too much, really. I'd go over that here. lol Good stuff! However, if I ever thought any food was better than sex, I should wish my sex life would improve ;o) 5!!
