Ingredients

How to make it

  • Cook potatoes in boiling salted water just until fork tender.
  • Cool slightly, peel and slice potatoes.
  • In skillet, fry bacon until crisp.
  • Crumble bacon and combine with onion, celery and salt.
  • In small saucepan, melt butter. Add flour and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.
  • Add dry mustard and sugar.
  • Slowly stir in beer and hot pepper sauce.
  • Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • Pour over potatoes. Sprinkle with parsley and toss to coat
  • Let stand one hour.
  • Add bacon mixture and toss gently,

    it feels a little strange, using flour for a potato salad sauce, but it reads also very intriguing - i shall try it next time i make potato salad - in about two weeks. looking forward tomy guest's comments and shall report. thank you for sharing this unusual recipe - i thought i'd seen them all - after all, i DO live here and we germans eat a lot of potato salad :-)

    Oh, heavens, a recipe with my husband's name written all over it! German, beer, bacon, beer, potato, beer!!! Good grief, the man will swoon.
