Chocolate cake with Strawberries and Mascarpone

Because it's just the 2 of now, we eat any cake I make a layer at a time and I freeze a layer for later use...Had some Mascarpone I needed to use up and came up with this yesterday for dessert...Came out good enough to share
Ingredients
- Any chocolate cake mix of your choice (I always use Duncan Hines Chocolate Fudge) shopping list
- 1 lb. strawberries shopping list
- sugar shopping list
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese shopping list
- 3 tbls. sugar shopping list
- 2 tbls. milk shopping list
- Zest of 1 lemon shopping list
- 1 tsp. balsamic vinegar shopping list
- 1 tbls. honey shopping list
How to make it
- Cook cake according to box directions
- Let cool
- Take one layer and cut into bite size chunks
- Cut strawberries into quarters and sprinkle with small amount of sugar
- Cover container and shake to coat
- In mixing bowl, add Mascarpone, sugar, milk and lemon zest
- Mix until well blended
- In a small bowl, add Balsamic vinegar and honey and whisk until combined
- Place cake chunks in bowl (or a fancy glass if serving to guests)
- Add a dollop of Mascarpone to top of cake
- Cover cheese with strawberries
- Top whole dessert with a very small drizzle of Balsamic-Honey mixture
