Genuine Scottish Shortbread

A recipe from Hollyeats Genuine Scottish Shortbread

This was a very easy & very good recipe, it turned out perfect, rich & buttery with a crumbly texture:) The recipe didn't state how long to bake the shortbread, but I noticed in the recipe "time to make 25 minutes", so I figured Holly meant baking time.....it took 30 minutes (I would start checking after 20 minutes and go from there), that's when the edges started to turn slightly brown. I'll be making this again & again:) Thanks Hollyeats for a sharing this wonderful shortbread recipe!

I have never made shortbread and don't know if I've even eaten it! Is that like a "biscuit" that English people dip in tea or coffee? Sounds super easy to make and I know the kiddos would love it! Picture looks so yummy Marie :)

Thanks for taking me back to my vacation to Scotland. May have to make these.
How nice that the dough keeps for a long time and ages flavor.

    Thanks everyone!

Frankieanne, LOL! I know, not great for the waistline, I made these for my Mom's BD, so I only had a couple! Although, I do have all of the ingredients for another batch:D

Janet, Hope you do get a chance to try these:) Also hope you think their perfect:D

Mr.P, yes, tastes about the same as a shortbread cookie, but, like I said, easier to make, just put it in your baking dish and press it into the dish, then bake!

ML2C, I do believe (I could be wrong) we call them cookies, the English call them biscuits..their slightly sweet and do go very well with tea or coffee:) You can have your kids help with this one, they can do the pressing of the mixture in the baking dish:)

Lovebreezy, How nice this recipe brought back some good memories of your vacation in Scotland!

Okay so I made the daring choice to cut this in half (which usually doesn't work so well with baking, for me) and I used an 8x8 pan. Mine looked a little thinner than than the other 2 pics, and mine did not brown up at all, stayed very white...and I cooked it a little over 30 minutes! Regardless they were delicious! Not too sweet, which was what I was hoping for! These were VERY delicate so I was super careful when taking them out of the baking dish. Very interesting texture...I liked it! Added my pic. Thanks for showing us this Marie!

Glad you tried this Michelle:) Shortbread is supposed to be white, or I should say light in color, so you did good:) ....just browned on the edges:) That's what I like about shortbread, it's not too sweet, and I love the crumbly texture..Very nice picture indeed!!!!

That original pic shows up on many different sites/recipes, luv, so who knows how accurate it is. Yours looks a lot like NPs, though, so you're good. :) I made someone's shortbread, once, from the Refugees... I don't remember who, though... it was very good. I'll do a search, sometime and letcha know.

Thanks guys! I kinda figured that picture wasn't really made by the author....looks more cakey too than crumbly. Yeah, Keni, let me know of that recipe...I did a quick search to find more and found some good sounding ones.... Oh gosh, look what you've started Marie :)
