How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350
  • Grease cookie sheets
  • In large bowl, beat butter & sugar till light and fluffy
  • Add egg, lemon extract, lime rind & milk, and mix well
  • Add 1 cup of flour at a time, blending well after each
  • Form dough into ball and let sit 5 minutes
  • Take a small walnut size of dough at a time and roll into 6" ropes
  • (use a little (and I mean little) flour to stop from sticking)
  • Fold 6" rope in half and twist around each other
  • Repeat till done
  • Bake 12 minutes or till golden brown
  • Topping:
  • Mix 1/2 cup powdered sugar & lemon juice (add more lemon juice if too thick)
  • Remove cookies from oven and immediately brush topping over hot cookies
  • Cool on wire rack.
