How to make it

  • Combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, canola oil, brown sugar, pepper and hot pepper sauce. Place steak and marinade in a ziploc bag and marinate in the refrigerator for 8 hours or overnight.
  • Drain and discard marinade. Grill or pan-fry the steak, covered, over medium heat for about 8 minutes on each side or until meat reaches desired doneness (for medium-rare, a meat thermometer should read 145 degrees F; medium, 160 degrees F; well-done, 170 degrees F).

Yummy!!! I cooked it whole and sliced it before serving. I made a gravy out of the pan juices with a little corn starch slurry and put it over white Basmati rice. I will definitely make this again. Thanks for a wonderful recipe!

Do you slice the steak before or after you cook it?

This sounds great. Thanks. And thanks for the temp readings for medium rare. I need to get a thermometer. Heh, never thought about using one. I always pull it off, cut into it and end up putting it back on the grill cuz its still purple :)

Gotta give this one a try. Sesame oil can really change the flavors of meat. Thanks.

I've been doing the soy sauce/brown sugar combo on steaks for a while now, and always come out delicious. I love the caramelized sugar on the fat off the meat...wow. Good stuff!!

Oooo...that looks delicious! Am not as apt to BBQ in the winter time so a pan-fried recipe is just the ticket. Love your avatar today. I'm going to guess....baby Robin?
