Directions

  2. 1 package active dry yeast
  3. 1 cup milk
  4. 1 cup flour
  5. 1 cup sugar
  6. Do not use metal bowls or spoons and do not refrigerate.
  7. To Start:
  8. Dissolve yeast in small amount of warm water. Mix all ingredients
  9. together
  10. in ample size bowl or jar (it will grow)
  11. Day 1 Take fermented starter in ziplock bag. Do nothing! Put bag on
  12. counter.
  13. Day 2 Squeeze bag several times.
  14. Day 3 Squeeze bag several times.
  15. Day 4 Squeeze bag several times.
  16. Day 5 Squeeze bag several times.
  17. Day 6 Add 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, and 1 cup of milk. Squeeze bag

  20. Day 7 Squeeze bag several times.
  21. Day 8 Squeeze bag several times.
  22. Day 9 Squeeze bag several times.
  23. Day 10 In a large non-metallic bowl, combine batter with 1 cup milk, 1
  24. cup
  25. flour and 1 cup sugar. Mix with wooden or plastic spoon. Take four one
  26. gallon ziplock bags and pour 1 cup of starter in each.
  27. Store or give away
  28. To the remaining batter:
  29. in a bowl, add: 1 cup vegetable oil
  30. 2 cups flour
  31. 1 cup sugar
  32. 1/2 cup milk
  33. 1 teaspoon vanilla
  34. 1/2 teaspoon salt
  35. 2 large eggs
  36. 2 boxes vanilla pudding
  37. 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  38. 1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
  39. In a separate bowl, mix 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 3 tablespoons sugar,
  40. sprinkle into well greased pans before batter. Bake at 325* for 1 hour
  41. or until done. REMEMBER: Do not refrigerate starter! As air builds in
  42. the bag, let air out. It is normal for the batter to thicken, bubble
  43. and ferment.

Thank you for the buddy invite. We had this mix going on at church a couple of years back. You could change the flavor by changing the pudding that you added.(leave the cinnamon out) We made chocolate, butterscotch, peanut butter, coconut...you can also add nuts choco chips, etc. Have fun with this one!!!!!

Hello, Look at my amish friendship bread they are close.


I have 14 starters in the freezer.Not many of my friends care to do this stuff. lol


That's one sweet starter. Years back, I had a jar of starter that had come from a strain that had arrived with the pioneers. It made the best bread ever.
