Ingredients
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 cup quick-cooking grits
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1-1/2 cups (6 oz.) shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 can chopped green chiles, drained
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk

Directions
  1. Bring water, salt and garlic to a boil; slowly stir in grits.
  2. Reduce heat; cook and stir for 3-5 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat. Add butter, 1 cup cheese and chiles; stir until butter melts.
  3. Beat eggs and milk; add to the grits and mix well.
  4. Pour into a greased 2 qt. baking dish.
  5. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
  6. Sprinkle with remaining cheese.

I first tasted cheese grits at a family wedding in Nashville - love at first bite! I gotta try this one with the addition of green chiles...sounds delish!

Oh yeah! There ain't nothin' better than a big 'ol bowl of grits!! I like mine with lots of butter, pepper and a slice or two of velveeta! Thank you for posting. These sure sound good.
