Very delicious! The topping tastes just like an oatmeal cookie! It was a perfect amount of topping for the 10 cups of apples. I used Gala apples that were quite sweet so I used 1/2 the amount of sugar, and doubled the flour as it was quite a juicy apple too. I kept the topping the same, but used old fashioned oats (Quaker's Large Flaked Oats). It was perfect with a scoop of vanilla ice cream! :)

I made this using Granny Smith apples and wasn't sure if I should peel the apples or not, so I didn't, and it worked just fine :) I had a small issue with the water not thickening up during cooking. Still very delicious and the topping was LOVED by all, and there was plenty of it! Added a review in Duboo's IMI thread Shandys Apple Crisp

This was super delicious. I made this with tart/sweet local grown apples. I did make a mistake that I'm not sure if it affected the recipe for the worse, or for the better, or not at all. After I had put the crisp in the oven and I was cleaning up, I came across my bowl of melted butter. I forgot to mix it in with the topping. I decided to spread the butter evenly over the top. I had to melt a little extra to cover the whole thing. The crust was crispy and tasty, and not powdery, so the butter must have worked through. I'm planning on making this recipe again tomorrow for dinner (noon) at my parents and hopefully I will remember to add in the butter at the right time. This is probably the best apple crisp I've ever had. Thanks for a great recipe.

I love apple crisp, and I understand that the secret to good apple pie or crisp is the mixture of different apples. It's such a good and easy dessert to fix!
