Ingredients
  • 1 pound (16 ounces) chopped bittersweet chocolate
  • ½ teaspoon (or more to taste) peppermint extract
  • 1 pound (16 ounces) chopped white chocolate
  • ¾ cup chopped candy canes

Directions
  1. Line an 11 x 17-inch baking sheet with foil and set aside.
  2. Melt bittersweet chocolate in the top of a double boiler over lightly boiling water, stirring constantly.
  3. Stir in ¼ teaspoon of peppermint extract (or more to taste).
  4. Spread chocolate evenly onto the prepared sheet, using an off-set spatula.
  5. Chill until set, about 1 hour.
  6. Melt white chocolate in the top of a double boiler over lightly boiling water, stirring constantly.
  7. Stir in remaining ¼ teaspoon of peppermint extract, (or more to taste) then add candy canes and stir to combine.
  8. Spread white chocolate mixture over chilled dark chocolate, spreading to the edge of the pan with an off-set spatula.
  9. Chill until set, about four hours or overnight.
  10. Refrigerate until just before serving, then break into pieces and serve or package as gifts.
  11. Will keep in fridge for 5 - 6 weeks (or more...).
  12. **Options**· The recipe could be changed slightly by using nuts or crushed cinnamon or butterscotch candies instead of peppermint to create different types and tastes but along with changing the topping, I would suggest a change of extract - vanilla, lemon, coconut, coffee...the possibilities and combinations are endless! Enjoy! :)

My husband will LOVE this! Thanks.

This is super good and easy! Several years ago, I saw this in a lovely little shop. It was packaged in clear bags, and tied with ribbon. Just a very few pieces sold for 12.95. Well, just talked myself into making a batch! :)

Wow and easy to make to boot! Another great gift idea for Christmas! You go girl! *smile* Tops!

This is a must do ....soooo I did.....Keith 'the muncher' has been doing well by it! TY

I have to add this to my gifts to give list, it would go great with my spicy orange pecans!!

I use red and green candy canes to make my bark. The colors are really festive with the white bark. Good stuff!!!

Will try this for an upcoming Christmas bake sale! Thanks!

Sounds delightful..all of your combinations are very creative! I had orange, coconut, cranberries, pecans etc.running through my head! Thanks for the great recipe!

Like it!

Doesn't sound too complicated. Do you know of more flavorful extract makers than others? After 10/31 ..#@* %#&+"%$---$$$$$$$$
