Ingredients

How to make it

  • Heat Oven to 350° Grease and flour-bottom only- of three 8 or 9-inch round cake pans
  • In a mixing bowl on high speed, beat egg whites until stiff peaks; set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine cake mix, butter, egg yolks, buttermilk, water and flavoring.
  • Beat two minutes, scraping down the sides of the bowl a couple of times.
  • Gently fold in egg whites and the pecans. Pour evenly into the three cake pans. Bake 20 to 25 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and then turn out on racks to cool completely.
  • Spread frosting between layers and then sides and top of cake; sprinkle with coconut.
  • Frost with Whipped Cream Cream Cheese Frosting
