Sunshine Lemon or Lime Bars Recipe

How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 350 °F.
  • Stir together cake mix, butter , egg and half the lime/lemon zest. Spread mixture evenly into bottom of a 13x9-inch baking pan.
  • Blend together sweetened condensed milk, lemon juice and remaining zest.
  • Pour mixture over top of cake mix mixture.
  • Bake for 23 to 27 minutes. Cool completely.
  • Cut into 1 1/2x3 1/4-inch bars.

    It looks great. It's cooling right now. But the batter was really dry and the cake mix wasn't absorbed. I followed the recipe to the tee. I ended up adding about 1/4 cup of water so it's a little thicker than your picture. I like this recipe, I'm just wondering if there is a wet ingredient missing?

    I did not like the bottom ? seems to be needed more baking time , and I don't like Lime because it gave the tart a little bitter taste ... but it's very easy to make thanks a lot for sharing ...

    Hey Vick: Meant to get back to you earlier but my computer is really S-L-O-W today. I made the lemon bars and they were a huge hit. I honestly was thankful that I had people over (unexpectedly) when I started to cut the dessert into squares. I would have eaten them all. Also, I tried high and low to find a lime cake mix to try the lime squares. There is nothing out there. Thanks again for the recipe, it's a keeper.~~~~~~~Sas Love the martini idea and I just bought cukes!!!!!!!
