New Orleans Beignets

- 3 CUPS ALL - PURPOSE flour shopping list
- 2 1/2 TABLESPOONS baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 CUP sugar shopping list
- 1 TEASPOON salt shopping list
- 1 CUP milk shopping list
- 1 CUP water shopping list
- 1 LARGE egg, BEATEN shopping list
- vegetable oil FOR FRYING shopping list
- 1/2 CUP powdered sugar shopping list
How to make it
- SIFT TOGETHER THE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, SUGAR AND SALT INTO A LARGE BOWL.
- COMBINE THE MILK, WATER, AND EGG AND WHISK TILL WELL BLENDED.
- ADD THE WET INGREDIENTS AND STIR TILL THE BATTER IS WELL BLENDED AND SMOOTH.
- IN A DEEP- FAT FRYER, OR HEAVY SKILLET, HEAT ABOUT 2 INCES OF OIL OVER MODERATELY HIGH HEAT TILL IT REACHES 325 DEGREES F. ON DEEP- FAT FRYER THERMOMETER
- DROP THE BATTER BY HEAPING TEASPOONS INTO THE FRYER ABOUT 10 AT A TIME, OR LESS NEVER CROWDING THEM,
- FRY TILL GOLDEN BROWN 6 TO 7 MINUTES AND DRAIN ON PAPER TOWELS.
- PLACE THE POWDERED SUGAR IN A FINE SIEVE AND SPRINKLE GENEROUSLY OVER THE BEIGNETS.
