Ingredients

How to make it

  • SIFT TOGETHER THE FLOUR, BAKING POWDER, SUGAR AND SALT INTO A LARGE BOWL.
  • COMBINE THE MILK, WATER, AND EGG AND WHISK TILL WELL BLENDED.
  • ADD THE WET INGREDIENTS AND STIR TILL THE BATTER IS WELL BLENDED AND SMOOTH.
  • IN A DEEP- FAT FRYER, OR HEAVY SKILLET, HEAT ABOUT 2 INCES OF OIL OVER MODERATELY HIGH HEAT TILL IT REACHES 325 DEGREES F. ON DEEP- FAT FRYER THERMOMETER
  • DROP THE BATTER BY HEAPING TEASPOONS INTO THE FRYER ABOUT 10 AT A TIME, OR LESS NEVER CROWDING THEM,
  • FRY TILL GOLDEN BROWN 6 TO 7 MINUTES AND DRAIN ON PAPER TOWELS.
  • PLACE THE POWDERED SUGAR IN A FINE SIEVE AND SPRINKLE GENEROUSLY OVER THE BEIGNETS.

    I use to hate to have to make Beignets...But now that i don't have to make em'.....I miss making them......Go figure...lol

    I remember when I was very little and went to New Orleans for the first time. It was winter and I had eaten my very first beignet. It was as if I'd fallen in love. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
