  • Toss in bowl with lemon rind and juice and 3/4 cup sugar
  • Melt 3 tablespoons butter in a large skillet and lay in half the bread slices.
  • Brown lightly on one side, turn and brown the other side.
  • Repeat wit remaining butter and bread
  • When all are done, sprinkle with 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • Line the bottom of an ungreased shallow baking dish(8x10in)
  • with half the bread slices; they should just cover the bottom
  • Spoon half the peaches and half their juices on top.
  • Repeat to make another layer of bread, peaches & juice
  • Toss together flour, sugar, brown sugar cinnamon & salt
  • Cut butter into small cubes and mix them with the dry ingredients, using your fingertips of a pastry cutter to incorporate the butter but not too much.
  • Leave small pieces of butter throughout .
  • Fold in the chopped almonds
  • Sprinkle topping over lasagna
  • Bake 50 minutes to 1 hour
  • Use shorter time if peaches were very ripe & juicy
  • The peaches should be tender, juices bubbling all around and the top nicely browned
  • If peaches seem done, but topping is still pale, place under the broiler for a minute or two
  • Serve warm & enjoy!!

My dad is a retired pastry chef/baker. I'm going to have him come over to help me bake the bread fresh. I love ur idea of the cinnamon swirl bread, so that is what we will do! OMG! Awesome recipe... my dad will be very impressed! ^5, Jett!

PS.. I am a devoted fan of Lydia's. My dad's family is from Sicily, Italy. My dad and Nonna started teaching me how to cook Italian meals and deserts when I was a young girl. Glad to see another fan! Just had to share that with ya. =)

Mmmm. I always wish I had smellavision for when Lidia cooks and I would think this recipe's scent is incredible and the flavor matches. Summer's must-try, I am bookmarking this recipe.

Sounds tasty Jett I never made a fruit Lasagna before
Could you use home made Lasagna noodles flavored with cinnamon and sugar instead of the bread?
