Ingredients
  • 1 cup ginger
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne

Directions
  1. i can only vouch for this recipe when mixed with equal parts vodka, but i'd guess it'd be good over fruit. or made into ice cream.
  2. 1 cup coarsly chopped ginger
  3. 2 cups water
  4. 2 cups sugar
  5. 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  6. Combine 1 cup of water and the ginger in a blender. Whirl until smooth, then pour into a heavy 2-quart pan. Add the remaining ingredients and cook over low heat until the sugar dissolves, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, let cool, and pour through a strainer.

Whew, sounds spicy!!!

Oh yum! How long will it keep?

A great touch to a few that I can think of I wonder if you have ever used this with Fish at all

U think with Vodka it will keep for some time

It's never stayed around long enough to spoil!
and i think a creative cook could use it in a fish recipe, maybe a finishing sauce. i'd cut way down on the vodka of course.

When I'm getting sick I drink a stong ginger tea with lemon and a generous dose of cayenne, this sounds a lot better with the vodka!! Mo hotter, mo better.

Love ginger dont drink much but I bet this would be great in seltzer.

Forget the ice cream or fruit salad! Vodka is my drink (Have you tried Tido's...TX vodka from Austin - 6 times distilled - Good stuff for a descent price)! Can't wait to try this one!

Speaking of vodkas I think Imperials the smoothest, also Russian but Poland makes good cheaper version of potato vodka called Luskuswa. for only having 2 recipes they sure are unique! thanks for posts

I have done this recipe MANY a time but without the cayenne pepper...and it's FAB....i also add a tsp of lemon juice...as it helps it retain it's freshness...the strength of the spicyness decreases with time, so it's best to make and use it all right away. It's also really good just with sparkling water.
