Ingredients

How to make it

  • i can only vouch for this recipe when mixed with equal parts vodka, but i'd guess it'd be good over fruit. or made into ice cream.
  • 1 cup coarsly chopped ginger
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Combine 1 cup of water and the ginger in a blender. Whirl until smooth, then pour into a heavy 2-quart pan. Add the remaining ingredients and cook over low heat until the sugar dissolves, about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, let cool, and pour through a strainer.

Forget the ice cream or fruit salad! Vodka is my drink (Have you tried Tido's...TX vodka from Austin - 6 times distilled - Good stuff for a descent price)! Can't wait to try this one!

When I'm getting sick I drink a stong ginger tea with lemon and a generous dose of cayenne, this sounds a lot better with the vodka!! Mo hotter, mo better.

it's never stayed around long enough to spoil!
and i think a creative cook could use it in a fish recipe, maybe a finishing sauce. i'd cut way down on the vodka of course.
