How to make it

  • Fill a clean glass jar half full of mature chive blossoms which have not started to fade.
  • Fill the jar with white distilled vinegar, covering all the blossoms.
  • pour in white vinegar to about 2/3 full, then add the wine up to 2 inches from the top.
  • Cap with a non-metal lid and set in the sun for 1 to 3 weeks,until the vinegar turns vivid pink.
  • Strain the liquid and dilute with more vinegar if too strong.
  • Decant into decorative bottles.

    I look at it this way, it is a form of a *Master Recipe* you could incorporate different spices with this or other form of seasonings!

    My chives have made themselves a field! I really appreciate this recipe as they are blooming now.

    I like this -- and I suppose you could substitute just about anything for the chive blossoms -- chives themselves I would think, or rosemary, or garlic, or thyme, or parsley, or sage!

    I know if you grow chives in your backyard in the Summer they will grow flowers. You can try a Farmer's Market too! This is a super idea Noir!
