Ingredients
  • Clean Glass Jar with Glass top or cork
  • Chive Blossoms
  • White Vinegar
  • White Wine 1-2 cups
  • Optional: Adding additional spices i.e. Herbs De Provence (see my recipes)
  • Decorative Bottle: Wine Bottle with cork

Directions
  1. Fill a clean glass jar half full of mature chive blossoms which have not started to fade.
  2. Fill the jar with white distilled vinegar, covering all the blossoms.
  3. pour in white vinegar to about 2/3 full, then add the wine up to 2 inches from the top.
  4. Cap with a non-metal lid and set in the sun for 1 to 3 weeks,until the vinegar turns vivid pink.
  5. Strain the liquid and dilute with more vinegar if too strong.
  6. Decant into decorative bottles.

This may sound stupid but-- Where would I get chive blossoms?


This sounds very nice. I don't think my chives have that many blossoms. I will check.


I know if you grow chives in your backyard in the Summer they will grow flowers. You can try a Farmer's Market too! This is a super idea Noir!

I like this -- and I suppose you could substitute just about anything for the chive blossoms -- chives themselves I would think, or rosemary, or garlic, or thyme, or parsley, or sage!


My chives have made themselves a field! I really appreciate this recipe as they are blooming now.

I look at it this way, it is a form of a *Master Recipe* you could incorporate different spices with this or other form of seasonings!
