This recipe is made all around Eastern Europe. It is called Kefte by Greeks and Koftas by Turks, cufte by Croatians and Chiftele (read Kiftele) by Romanians and the principle is the same. This is my mom recipe that I would not change for the world.

These make my mouth water! One question: is the shredded potato raw or cooked?
elgab89 1 year, 3 months ago said:
Sorry, it is raw - it will cook when you fry them.

I love these and your recipe. I have to omit the pork for dietary reasons but I know these will taste delicious. This is a great 5 fork recipe and many thanks for posting it.

Elgab,
Wow! My husband is fired up about this recipe. His grandmother came over from the Ukraine with his dad when his dad was a child. She cooked all Ukrainian foods, which he loves. I told him I just found a recipe for Eastern European meatballs and he wants me to make them tomorrow (at the latest!).
This looks like a very good recipe. I thank you for it. It's going to make him very happy.
