How to make it

  • Heat oil in a med. size skillet on med/high heat.
  • Add onions and cook til onions are very limp and all fluid is evaporated.
  • Add all the seasonings and simmer uncovered for a few minutes.
  • Add tomato paste and water.
  • Simmer uncovered again til it reduces in half.
  • Serve ontop of hot dogs.

    well I was excited to find this recipe here. I lived in long Island for a while and pathmark sold some of the best hot dog onions in a foil package but here in florida the only ones you can buy are saberet there good but this is now a much closser version... thanks loved your comment on my keilbasa dish..

    Lillian!!! These were great (of course!) My husband really liked them, which is saying a lot because he's SUPER picky! I did use some ketchup instead of the tomato paste and water because I was all out. Thanks for a great recipe!! I'll be making them again for sure! :)

    I just counted six, yes, six packages of hotdogs in my freezer. I better make this to assist in the hot dog consumption in the house....or open a pushcart on the weekends. Thanks for the great recipe. I have 12 lbs of onions too. A match made in heaven.
