Ingredients

How to make it

  • Prepare pasta according to package instructions for al-dente.
  • Meanwhile, in large non stick pan melt 2 tbsp. butter over medium-high heat.
  • When butter is sizzling, add the shrimp, sauteeing until almost done. Remove shrimp from pan and set aside.
  • Add the rest of the butter to the pan, along with garlic.
  • When melted, add flour, salt and pepper forming a roux.
  • Add 1 1/2 cups half and half stirring constantly. If sauce becomes too thick, you may add an additional 1/2 cup half and half
  • When thickened to desired consistancy, stir in tomatoes and basil.
  • Return shrimp to pan and allow to finish cooking (another 2-3 minutes)
  • Serve over warm pasta and garnish with basil leaves.
  • Eat and enjoy!

Hey 5thsista, made this last night, but with chicken just because I wasn't in the mood for shrimp. (next time) Made it just like stated. Was VERY good. Simple flavors, not complicated, and easy too. 5 forks! I submitted my version in the pics.

This was perfect! The only change I made was to use chicken instead of shrimp because my 18 year old won't eat shrimp! And I used fat free half n' half. There was plenty of cream sauce and I only used 1 1/2 cups of the half n' half. The flavor of the garlic, fresh tomtatoes and basil really comes through. I served it with grated parmesan cheese. This is a recipe I'll use often! I added my photo to the collection!

YUM! Do you think it works better with fresh tomatoes or could you use the kind that come in a jar?

I made this today, and it was fantastic. I mentioned to you that I make a basil cream sauce, too, but I wanted to make yours without any of "my" personal influence and rate it and review it...and it was great. :) Similar enough to mine that others couldn't really tell, til I told them, but they all loved it, and that's the important part. :) It's a great recipe to try...and perfect to use up all that basil! hehehehe Thanks, sis! ;)
