Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 lbs - Lean, tender cut of beef steak. Freeze til firm to ease slicing.
  • 1 - Large green bell pepper - cut into chunks
  • 1 - Large onion - cut into wedges
  • 3/4 lb - small fresh mushrooms
  • 3 - cloves of garlic - crushed & chopped fine
  • 1 3/4 cups - Dry white wine
  • White pepper
  • 2 or 3 - Medium Tomatoes - Cut into wedges
  • 1 1/2 tblspns Corn Starch - Mixed with water to make a thin paste
  • Oil for stir frying

Directions
  1. Mix wine & garlic together & set aside
  2. Slice steak into thin strips & place in freezer bag.
  3. Pour wine/garlic mixture over meat
  4. Pushing the air out, seal freezer bag & place in fridge for several hrs or over night. Turn several times
  5. When ready to cook:-
  6. Remove meat strips only from the freezer bag & set aside
  7. Strain wine marinade in sieve to separate garlic. Set aside
  8. Heat about 3 tblspns oil in Wok & add peppers, onions & mushrooms.
  9. Stir fry on med/high heat for about 5 mins. The vegetables should stay crunchy. Place in a bowl & set aside
  10. Add a little more oil to Wok & add meat. Stir fry til meat is cooked & tender
  11. Add reserved garlic & stir for a minute. The juices will turn a golden brown.
  12. Add reserved wine marinade & a couple of shakes of pepper & simmer for a few minutes
  13. Thicken slightly with corn starch paste. Set aside
  14. In another deep flat bottom pan ( I use my electric frying pan) add the vegetables & reheat
  15. Pour the meat & sauce over the vegetables & mix together
  16. Place tomato wedges on top & simmer, covered for a few minutes until the tomatoes are slightly cooked
  17. Ready to serve with your favorite side dishes

This sounds incredible. Can't wait to try. Great post my friend and a high 5.

Recipe sounds great! Love to cook with wine...I live in Southern California's wine country. We have approx. 20 wineries here. Aren't I lucky? I recently took a tour with my grandson to the South Coast Winery, Resort and Spa. The wine tasting paired with different cheeses was the best part of the tour!

Wonderful post! This will be a favorite with both my husband and I.

Thanks for posting!

Looks great. Gotta try this one.

Interesting, two recipes of yours I have looked at we have in common. A wonderful restaurant that was in Sacramento for 40 years finally closed, they retired and were famous for thier pepper steak sandwich. They put the recipe in the local paper and I have been meaning to post it. Scrumptously good stuff. Will advise you when it goes up. Yours looks great, nice. JJ
