A simple egg roll made with mostly basic ingredients. It may not be "authentic", and nothing fancy, but a nice recipe to complete a stir fry meal or as an appetizer. They can also be frozen uncooked, then fried just prior to serving!

Delicious! Another keeper Keni. I made them to try out my new Fry Daddy and served them with Mattsbelly's beef and broccoli. I did not use the 5 spice powder as Mom can't have the anise due to medication interaction so I made my own mix of cinnamon, ginger, cloves and cardamom to use instead. The filling was very easy to make and I did let it cool a bit before filling the wrappers. The filling and the wrappers (20) came out even, too which is a first for me - I usually have some of one or the other left over - lol. Thank you for posting this one.

Hey Keni, These look really good. I would like to try them some time as an app for company. but I was wondering what are the 5 spices in the chinese 5 spice? I haven't seen that around here.

Hey Laurie! Usually 5spice includes: pepper, cinnamon, anise, cloves, and fennel, with or without ginger. You can use any Asian spice blend, or, just a dash of each/some of the above. :)

I have hear a couple of people mention your egg rolls so I had to come check them out. Great recipe Keni. I have never made an egg roll either and it seems you have got the ingredients down. Great instructions too. Makes me want to go get the stuff and try it tonight....
I like the way you put your recipes together..:-)~ You have a great weekend too. Hugs back... Jim

Hey Keni - I just got a new deep fryer for my birthday and we made these at 9:00 pm last night after a long day of putting up a playset for the kids. They were great! Super easy to roll too, so thanks for the great instructions. This actually was the 1st time I've made egg rolls. Next time I'm going to freeze some so we have some when we throw together a quick Chinese meal! Just curious, have you ever made them with shrimp or chicken, because I think we are going to try a different meat next time? Thanks for the recipe!

We made these again today, but used chicken instead of ground pork. We loved them with the chicken - much preferred to the pork. We froze a bunch too this time around. Served them with whodunitrdr's Chicken and Shrimp Lo Mein.

Made this again last night for a party, not one left! Everyone loved them. didn't change the recipe at all except I baked them instead of frying them. Just brushed them with peanut oil first. Thanks Keni.

Thank you, again, Laurie..it's so nice to know they can be baked! :)

Oooh, I'm totally stealing this idea. Although not sure about the peanut oil as it's very expensive here. Now you have me curious about dale's. I have a friend in mississippi, maybe she'd be able to mail me a bottle so I can try it? I also must commend you for the step-by-step photos, not many people on here go through the trouble. 5 forks for this!
