The Miners used to take these Into the mines with them for dinner. My friends mom added the carrot and onion. Some people like them with gravy and a glass of buttermilk. Not me, just ketchup

Ok I'm with Luna and Tink, what does U P stand for, the pies sound wonderful, but now I'll be up all nite wondering about U P

The U.P. stands for Upper Peninsula. The Mackinaw bridge is 5 miles long and separates the trolls( below the bridge. Yooper North of the Bridge. Almost broke the record snow fall for them in North of the lift bridge. 170 somethings inches(I think that is what they told me). Oh yea, I live in the lower so i'm a troll. haha. I used to live up there. for 8 yrs. been back down here for 9 yrs. now. I go back 4- 5 x's a year.got me rambling now.haha

Heavy sigh, thank you sooooo much He He He !!!!!

Thanks for sharing this recipe. We have a local tourist site that serves these. They are popular in English and Irish cuisine, too. I have always enjoyed these--I'll have to give them a try at home.

I used to love Pasties in England & I've never been able to find a good recipe for them so I can't wait to try this one out. It sounds really good. Thanks & 5 forks

Cannot get enough of pasties!!!

Oh, yes, pasties are the best! I used to make them every Halloween, so that we could devour them before taking the kids out trick or treating! And, I remember taking them to Mason, MI a short drive away from our campground @ that time; there was an old fashioned Five and Dime with a killer toyshop and nut/candy counter, and the Pasty shop a door or 2 down! We'd get our pasties and walk across the street to the Municipal Building and picnic on the lawn (right next to the cannon!) What wonderful memories! The real, old fashioned pasties have lard in the pastry, though!
