Ingredients
  • 1 frozen yeast bread loaf (like Rhodes brand)
  • 1/2 lb. thinly sliced pastrami
  • 1/4 cup Russian or Thousand Island dressing
  • 3/4 cup bavarian style souerkraut, drained
  • 1/2 lb. thinly sliced Swiss or Muenster cheese, or use shredded cheese.

Directions
  1. Let the defrosted bread loaf rise in a warm place until doubled.
  2. When the dough has doubled in size, punch it slightly and roll into a thin rectangle on a floured surface.
  3. Lay pastrami over top of dough, leaving a 1/2 inch border around edges. spread dressing over pastrami. Spread souerkraut over top and layer with cheese.
  4. Roll up the rectangle from the long side. Tuck in the sides and seal the edges by brushing some water on the seams.
  5. Heat oven to 400F. Grease a baking sheet, or line it with parchment paper. Place the Reuben roll, seam side down, on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Bake in a 400F oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.Let rest for about 10 minutes, then slice.
  7. *Note: do not slice this thin, otherwise the filling may not stay in as well.

Love Rueben Anything. This Sounds Incredible, Great Post Juels.

YUMMY!!! I will have to make this on a night that we are having soup, that actually happens alot since I feel like I am living in the arctic. LOL. Take care Juels and keep them awesome recipes coming in. Thanks again.

This sounds wonderful! Be great with a cold beer!

I love how the sandwich is all "wrapped up"...ruebens can be a messy thing to eat, but not with this presentation - great idea, Juels (you're a natural!) - great pictures, too...Krum

Your pictures are beautiful!I love a good reuben. Awesome, is all I can say about this great recipe!

Wow what a great idea I love a good Reuben. I think I’ll try this with corned beef and Thousand Island dressing.
Thanks, Juels

I love Rubens and I posted a veteran Ruben recipe. However this baked style is an award winner in my book.
Five forks and a big smile :)

I lieke this recipe!

I love this idea and can't wait to make it for a certain football game. It would seriously give the philly cheese steak sandwich some competition for best of show. Julie, you are an inspiration. Brava.

Juels, this is fantastic! I love your cooking ideas, and they keep me coming back for more. I too, love reubens...and pastrami is my choice for this sandwich, although I have to have the thousand island and swiss. May just try a combination of cheese. Yep, gonna be trying this one for sure...sounds much easier than preparing the sandwiches and grilling them. Thanks again, juels :) ^5 + flagged for beauty!

Great posts love the rueben high 5 recipe thanks

I'm back to tell you that I made this over the weekend, and it was so yummy! I used 1000 island dressing, and Swiss cheese. I also used Rhodes pizza dough, but think the next time I will use their regular bread dough, or perhaps make my own rye dough. I will be making this again, and perhaps trying different meats and add-ins...the possibilities with your recipe are endless! I have added it to the "I Made This" group, as I hope others will try it too. Thanks again G'friend! :)

WOW! This is a great idea for a recipe! I've got try this!

Oh...This was sooo good!!! I made it as written except I used Thousand Island dressing instead of Russian. I didn't have the stuff to make Russian. Everything else was as written! I ate 3 slices! I can't wait to have guests over and serve this! I know everyone will love it! I hope you like my photo!

What is not to like! Major party food. Yum.

Great photo Lillian!

Thanks, Lillian, for adding the last picture! I love it!

May I have one please? Thanks, and HIGH FIVE! :+D
