Ingredients
  • 2/3 Cup tiny shrimp packed (one 4 oz can) drained and rinsed
  • 2/3 Cup Colby & Monterey Jack cheese finely shredded, packed
  • 1/2 Cup Miracle Whip (half the fat of mayo)
  • 42 butter crackers, about 2/3 box (town house preferred)

Directions
  1. Fold the first three ingredients together in a small mixing bowl.
  2. Pick up one teaspoon of the mix and wipe it out of the spoon with the round edge of the cracker. Spread with the back of the spoon. One level tsp is plenty for each cracker.
  3. Place the crackers on a foil lined cookie sheet.
  4. With rack about 5 inches from the heat coil, broil until melted, just starting to bubble. 3 minutes or so. Too long and the center of the cracker gets a bit soft.
  5. Serve immediately.
  6. Cheddar cheese or Ritz crackers make slightly different varieties.

I hate Miracle Whip, but all the same, this recipe looks delicious and I can't imagine that even with nasty Miracle Whip that these would be bad. I will grudgingly admit that shrimp are actually enhanced by the taste of salad dressing. Mmmmmmm... Thanks for sharing! - Natalie

LOL my hubby actually prefers MW to store-bought mayo, but likes my homemade. And with this recipe, I think the tang of the MW would be much better than plain mayo! This recipe sounds good for quick apps when company drops in unexpectedly, and EASY! A big plus! 5 from me.

Fantastic! I really like this recipe but I hate the Miracle Whip, so I'll use Dukes mayo.

Isn't life weird? I grew up on MW, can't eat a sandwich without it, and didn't know anyone who used mayo until I went in the service. (That reminds me of a shipmate years ago who said "Heck, I never wored shoes til I comed in the Navy.") Therefore I am surprised that two out of three foodies here think its yucky. lol
You can taste a slight tang in these crackers, from the MW. I think it's complimentary, but I'm sure not offended if someone wants to use mayo, blue cheese dressing, axle grease ....

CC1, I KNEW you had some more apps hidden away - I remember these from back in the early 80's I think it was...so easy and absolutely addictve litle buggers. I am a mayo fan too (even though I grew up in MN, too - those weird Judson people!), but I agree MW adds a different flavor with its sweetness. I think I'll try some with EACH and see if I can tell a difference...(I'll skip the axle grease) - thanks, CC1!

Very nice sounding recipe.

Thank-you

Kind Regards

The Miracle Whip/Mayo controversy...I grew up on Miracle Whip, never tasted mayo til I was early teens, probably. My daddy wouldn't eat it at all...now I don't eat MW, but definitely can see the virtues of both - it's a totally different taste. GREAT recipe, love it! Five for ya!

Woohooo! Appetizer party at CC1's house, y'all!
:-D
This sounds lovely and oh so easy, too. Good stuff, no matter what we use.--Kn0x--

Another great appetizer, keep them coming! This one is sure to reduce some of that cooking time during the party day!

Oh my goodness, these look and sound so delicious, R m'dear. I wish I had some right now. Cheesy shrimp on crackers? I'm in - high 5 - and I flagged you for beauty as well. Great pic!

Another great one
