Ingredients
  • Bananas Foster
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup (1.75 ounces) dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • * 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon optional
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon banana liqueur
  • 2 ripe(not overly ripe) bananas, sliced in half lengthwise break them up if needed.
  • 1/4 cup dark rum
  • 1/2 teaspoon finely grated orange zest
  • ICE CREAM:
  • One pint Green and Black organic Vanilla ice cream
  • ¼ cup of milk
  • Splash of dark rum about two tablespoons, three, or more to your liking
  • A dash of nutmeg

Directions
  1. Melt butter in a 10-inch heavy skillet over low heat.
  2. Add brown sugar, allspice and nutmeg and stir until sugar dissolves.
  3. Add banana liqueur and bring sauce to simmer.
  4. Add bananas and cook for 1 minute on each side, carefully spooning sauce over bananas as they are cooking.
  5. Remove bananas from pan to a serving dish.
  6. Bring sauce to a simmer and carefully add the rum.
  7. If the sauce is very hot, the alcohol will flame on its own.
  8. If not, using stick flame, carefully ignite and continue cooking until flame dies out, approximately 1 to 2 minutes.
  9. If sauce is too thin, cook for 1 to 2 minutes until it is syrupy in consistency.
  10. Add orange zest and stir to combine. Set aside to cool for ten minutes.
  11. In a blender, add the ice cream and milk a dash of nutmeg and ½ cup of Bananas Foster recipe and a splash of dark rum and blend until smooth enjoy.
  12. * As an alternative Brandy or Grand Marnier can be substituted for the rum.
