Tri-level Brownies

- BOTTOM LAYER shopping list
- 1 C quick cooking rolled oats shopping list
- 1/2 c all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 c packed brown sugar shopping list
- 1/4 t baking soda shopping list
- 1/2 c butter, melted shopping list
- MIDDLE LAYER shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 3/4 c granulated sugar shopping list
- 2/3 c all purpose flour shopping list
- 1/4 c milk shopping list
- 1/4 c butter, melted shopping list
- 1 oz unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled shopping list
- 1 t vanilla shopping list
- 1/4 t baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 c chopped walnuts (or your fave, optional) shopping list
- TOP LAYER shopping list
- 1 oz unsweetened chocolate shopping list
- 2 T butter shopping list
- 1 1/2 c sifted powdered sugar shopping list
- 1/2 t vanilla shopping list
How to make it
- BOTTOM LAYER
- Stir together oats, 1/2 c all-purpose flour, brown sugar, and baking soda.
- Stir in 1/2 c melted butter
- pat mixture into the bottom of an ungreased 11x7x1/2 in baking pan
- Bake at 350 for 10 minutes
- MIDDLE LAYER
- Meanwhile, stir together egg, granulated sugar, 2/3 c all purpose flour, milk 1/4 c melted butter, melted chocolate, 1 t vanilla and baking powder.
- Mix until smooth
- Stir in nuts
- Spread evenly over baked layer in pan
- Bake for 25 minutes more
- Place on wire rack while preparing top layer
- TOP LAYER
- In a medium saucepan heat and stir 1 oz unsweetened chocolate and 2 T butter until melted and smooth
- Sitr in powdered sugar and 1/2 t vanilla
- Stir in enough hot water (1-2 T) to make a mixture that is almost pourable
- Spread over brownies
- If desired, garnish with more chopped nuts
- Cool in pan on wire rack
- Cut into bars.
