Recipe by NPMarie: Maries Potato Salad/saved
A good potato salad. Nice little bite to carry the flavor.
Recipe didn't say when to cube up the potatoes, pre or post simmer. I did it post.
    Forgot the paprika.

I think that's a matter of preference, P7O. I always boil my potatoes whole, with the skin on, then, after they are cool I peel and cube, that keeps them firm. Learned that from my Mom, it's how she did it. Lots of people peel, cube, then boil and even make the salad while they are warm...I don't like potato salad made that way...the potatoes get to "mashed" in the process. Sounds like a good recipe...love that she uses dill pickles instead of sweet!

This is on my short list of to try recipes too! That's good info about the potatoes being cooked whole with the skin on Lori. I didn't know that. Dill pickles rock! :)

I am so pleased you enjoyed my potato salad Points! Nice picture:) I usually cube my potatoes before cooking, but as Lori (Sparrow64) said, it is a matter or preference! I have done it both ways...that's the beauty of potato salad, everyone has a certain way of preparing it, and it's always good!

Never heard of vinegar in potato salad! Interesting and worth trying! I am also a cut up before boiling. How long does it take to boil a whole potato? Seems like a long time. Nice picture pso...looks creamy ;)

Looks great.... I always use dill relish in my tater salad and deviled eggs, tuna salad, etc.... I don't even buy sweet relish. :-) Such a great flavor.

I'm also a dice and cook girl.... but, I don't bother peeling. Oh, and eating the potato salad just after it's made with warm taters is a treat around here... it's a different "thing" than once it's been in the fridge, which is also much loved. The only thing is, you can only eat it warm, once... no reheating of left overs....so, it's almost like getting two different sides. :-)

I'm a no peel, dill relish type but I just cut the potatoes in half before cooking then dice after.

I think it's amusing how everyone has their own tried and true method of preparing the potatoes for a potato salad! I peel my potatoes first, although if I had had nice red ones like Marie's I wouldn't have. Then I cut them into chunks to cook and once cooled I cut them into smaller bits. I LOVED this salad. Made it last night. It is totally going on our regular rotation list. I added the red wine vinegar after the potatoes had cooled, and I used fresh dill as opposed to dried. Maybe a couple of tbsp. worth finely minced. It was FABULOUS! I've never had a potato salad with dill pickles in it before. Who knew?

Made this and we LOVED it! I have always been a fan of pickles in potato salad, but have never used the vinegar or dill in it. This is definitely something that I will take to BBQ's this summer! I have to add that I added a couple squirts of just plain yellow mustard since the hubs won't eat it without it. Thanks Marie!!
