I love onions anyway they are served but my favorite is caramelized. They are simple to make and add so much to a dish.

- 2 large onions, sliced
- 3 tbls. butter, unsalted
- 2 tbls. olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1-1 1/2 tsp. honey

Ingredients

2 large onions, sliced shopping list
3 tbls. butter, unsalted shopping list
2 tbls. olive oil shopping list
Salt and pepper to taste shopping list
1-1 1/2 tsp. honey shopping list

How to make it

In skillet over medium low heat add butter and oil
Once butter is melted add onion,salt and pepper
Stir to combine
After 10 minutes add honey and stir to combine
Saute, stirring frequently until onions are tender and golden brown...this should take another 10-15 minutes

Can you make these onions ahead and add them to recipes later? If so do you have an idea of how long it keeps well in the refrigerator?

I love caramelized onions, but I never add sugar or honey to them...low and slow is the way to go. But thanks for the reminder to use them more often! And I need glasses too... Cheers ~ Lindy

I love them this way, minus honey or sugar. I add worcestershire and garlic. YUM!
