How to make it

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  • Place the eggs, lemon juice, lemon rind, oil, honey and coffee in the bowl of an electric mixer.
  • Mix on low speed until well blended.
  • Gradually add the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cream of tartar, sugar and cinnamon, mixing for about 5 minutes or until well blended.
  • Fold in the slivered almonds.
  • Pour the batter into prepared tube or bundt pan.
  • Bake in the oven for 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
  • Makes 1 cake with at least 12 servings.

    looks, schmmooks. sounds, schmounds.
the only authentic and meaningful comments are those that are made by someone who has made the recipe.
    so i made it.
no on was impressed in my family.
because this is NOT a Polish honey cake.
and it certainly is NOT a babka.
don't know where you got your info from but it's a fail.
some people might like it but a Pole knows his is not a traditional honey cake.
    Coffee? for damn's sake.
    Coffee? really?
    no.
    not a good one.
    and stop misinforming people.

This looks really good, I love the honey and lemon combo. I do not drink coffee so I would not buy it. Do you know if there is anything I could successfully substitue for it?

Yes, Extra Virgin Olive oil does work well, but for those who do not like the flavour of EVOO, vegetable oil does the trick!!!

Oh yes, this is my kind of cake. Great post.

I would only suggest extra virgin olive oil instead of vegetable oil, the blends of evoo and honey make a perfect combination.
