My Dads Slaw Recipe

How to make it

  • Combine first four ingredients in large mixing bowl - I usually run a knife through the slaw mix and chop it a little
  • Add radishes, if using (I don't use them - Dad did, back when he could eat them)
  • Add mayo just a little at a time until desired consistency - the tomato and the cucumber tend to be watery, so it's easy to get too much mayo
  • Sprinkle with fresh ground pepper and celery seed (salt will make the tomato and cucumber weep, and the slaw will be more runny)

    Oh Lori! Made this last night alongside Sliders. It was AMAZING! And I mean AMAZING! All 3 of us LOVED it! I don't like Cole slaw normally...too sweet...yuck....
    It was the dill pickles that drew me to the recipe and I added the radishes as well. Great flavour and very fresh. Very unique. This is going to be a standby recipe and I can't wait to make it for others so I can knock their socks off too. Thank you so much!

    At last, an American slaw recipe I can love...No offence, but they are so often much too sweet. This sounds fabulous. Ill be giving it a try for sure...Thank you

    Dill salad cubes are with the pickles in the grocery store. Just dill pickles that are chopped small, but not as find as relish. Some brands have a little pimento in them. You can just chop dill pickles for the slaw, I use the cubes for convenience.
