How to make it

  • in a large collander, combine cabbage and 2 tsp. salt.place a plate over cabbage and weigh down withsome can goods. let stand for 60 minutes. stir togather sour crean,vinegar,sugar,remaining salt and enough evaporated milk to make a medium thick sauce, you don't want it to thick.
  • squeeze cabbage by hands full to remove extra liquid. add onion and carrots. stir in dressing and toss lightly to coat.keep refrigerated.
  • never knew that there was a Missouri cole slaw until ran across this recipe.

    Usually, I don't go for coleslaw because mayo is usually a key ingredient and I don't like mayo THAT much. I'm definitely saning this one. Thanks!

    hmmm. you have a lot of coleslaw recipes here. i've never prepared one so i'm gonna try this. i'll look over all your recipes.

    You know Robert, we have some similar recipes. I prepare my coleslaw almost the exact same way. The one difference is, instead of using vinegar I use the juice from good quality dill pickles. Oh, it makes such a difference. My older sister taught me that trick many, many years ago.

    Robert, we spent 6 years in Sedalia and Marshall many moons ago - it's where I learned to make fluffy baking powder biscuits with sausage gravy, and country ham with red-eye gravy...some of the best food on earth! I will have to try this slaw recipe - we like the creamy style and this sounds very tasty. Thanks!
