Ingredients

How to make it

  • ***To remove them from ant hills:
  • Mix cornmeal & bacon grease into a paste, then add baking powder &
  • yeast. Dab the gooey mix on the insides of jar lids, and
  • set them near the ant hills.
  • When ants eat this mixture, they swell up and go to the big ant hill in
  • the sky.
  • ***To prevent them from coming into house - take chalk, and draw a line on door saddles and window sills. Ant's can't stand to walk through since it ruins their 'scent paths' totally screwing up their ability to tell the others where the food is...
  • ***If anyone else has ant solutions - do share!

I think I'll use butter since I don't do bacon. My ants are fat-eating ants so this should work fine (the bacon fat would've have worked). Now if I can only keep my cat away from it...>^..^<

i came on here looking for a natural way to deter ants. i dont want to kill them all, because they dont do me any harm. i just dont want to share a house with them. But some of these 'natural' remedies are so cruel and i would never EVER try them. Chewing own legs off!? totally awful! if i had to kill them i would rather use insecticide which is desgned to kill them quickly and painlesslessly. But on a brighter side i will try the chalk. Thanks to whoever posted that one.

We have horrid ants in my trailer park. This is a great idea. I can not put out Boric Acid because of the kiddies running around. I do not want them to get into it. I do have one you may want to update this with. Red Pepper in doorways and window frames or any where they are getting in. The ants will chew off thier own legs and die after walking through this. The scent trail also yells danger this way after that!!

Also - there's a product which is Orange Oil based which many of my friends have used because it, too, is organic and kills the ants. To be honest - it is not immediate like Raid BUT it is perfectly safe to use indoors and leaves a lovely citrus scent and comes in a spray bottle for we lazy people.

we have ants coming out our ears inside this summer, as the rains keep on coming! I used to pour a line of cream of tartar to hold the armies at bay - works like chalk, but chalk is simpler and less of a disaster if the kids decide to play with the line! will try! thanks!

One of my raised garden was crawling with small black ants today. Came inside mixed up the ingrediants and placed it near the entery of their home. Just went out to check (five hours after placing) and I don't see a one. Too good to be true? I'll let you know!!!:)

I know the chalk trick works since I have used that all the time - as for the other cure... well I did a little research for another foodie here and found the 'recipe' above and while sharing it with the other foodie - I thought heck - let me share it with everyone here at grouprecipes.com!
Happy ant free spring and summer!
ps as I was looking up ant pics to use... I just couldn't put up a real photo of ants - it seemed too disgusting - so I put up the 'ants on a log' pic since we all grew up with these as kids...lol
