Ingredients
  • 2cedar planks
  • 1 side of Atlantic salmon cut in 8 pieces
  • 1/2 cup whiskey
  • 6 tbsp Maple syrup
  • salt and pepper - depending on your taste
  • 1sprig thyme
  • 1 sprig tarragon
  • 1 tbsp corn oil
  • dash of lemon juice

Directions
  1. Soak the cedar plank in water overnight ( the better soaked, the smokier it gets).
  2. 1 hour before barbecuing, mix in one bag the salmon and the rest of the ingredients and let it marinate. Before barbecuing, discard the thyme and tarragon sprigs.
  3. Preheat Barbecue to 400F.
  4. Reduce heat to 300F and barbecue salmon on the planks with barbecue lid closed for about 15 minutes.
  5. This recipe works well if you sear the salmon in the pan instead of grilling it, just in case it is raining outside.
  6. Bon appetit!

Oh wow - this sounds divine, Elga hon! I agree about the smokey taste of the single malt Scotch - perfect here and the cedar plank is one of my favorite cooking methods for fish. You get a high 5 from me - I'll be making this baby soon. Thanks so much! :) Vickie

I have a freezer full King and Sockeye Salmon I caught in Alaska last summer and we love cooking with the ceder plank. I can't wait to try your recipe- sounds awesome!

Sounds delicious for me, thanks Helena!

Hmmm sounds delicious! A must try! (^_^)

Your marinade sounds great! Salmon grilled on a cedar plank is my favorite way to eat it. We always stock up on cedar planks at Costco before summer ends because we even grill during the winter. I'll have to share my recipe with you too! :-)

Tarragon with its liquorish flavor along with the maple is wonderful combination for this salmon recipe
