Tried this last week and it was a hit at my house!!

Great post. Gets 5 forks from me. Lucy

This looks like a unique dessert to make! How big is your mug (as in, how many ounces does it hold)? Since I don't have a microwave, can this also be made in a regular oven? At what temperature?

LOVING this!! Can't wait to try it!

I just made this, had to give it a try, it's great.

I love this recipe!!! Really good and super fast and easy! Definitely hits the spot when you need a chocolate fix. I drizzled some caramel on the top and some whipped cream. Im blaming you when I gain 50 pounds! EDIT: I just wanted to add that I used all purpose flour.

I never have cake flour on hand. Would it be okay to use all purpose? I'd really like to try this for dessert. TIA.

Yes, thats a great question 5thsister! I'd like to know that also. Thanks MW, for showing this in my group! I'll have to try this! :)

YES>>>>Regular flour works...That is what I have been using and it is so good! I think that peanut butter chips would be great or mini marhsmallows, mint chips..... Top: with whip cream, ice cream etc....

I posted a pic..I think Im going to try the peanut butter chips tonight :) Again, Im blaming you!

Ok, made it with the peanut butter chips, my favorite so far! Yum yum yum

Is cake flour the same as pastry flour? Mrs, your pics. look delish. Gotta try this this weekend!

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I absolutely LOVE the "Warm Delights" individual sized cakes that they sell for a ridiculously high price at the grocery store. This recipe will allow me to make an individual cake without the astronomical price tag!

Ohhh my! This was sooo good. Made this last night and loved it! I did use an oversized mug, kept recipe the same and it filled the mug. I added chocolate and peanut butter chips as suggested by Mrs. W. The only thing I did different was to cook for 2 min. 30 sec. Plenty of time for my microwave and it was cooked perfectly. I also did use the cake flour, had it on hand. I' afaid this recipe could become a habit! LOl....thanks for sharing.

Ok...cake in a mug + milk chocolate chips + chopped pecans + coconut + caramel sauce = good

OMG! Sounds heavenly mrs.w........I purchased andes mint pieces from the baking aisle...can't wait to try that version too.

Since I don't have a microwave, I used my toaster oven to make these delightful little yummies! I added a pinch of baking soda and salt to the batter and baked it in two 6-1/2 oz. oven-proof coffee cups for 25 minutes. They were a little hard to get out of the cups and I had to run the thin edge of knife around the edges while they were still warm to get them to pop out. I can see making these as a novelty dessert for company and topping them with ice cream, whipped cream, or whatever else takes your fancy. Thanks for sharing McBoo!

DD made this last night for her brother, herself and her dad. We used splenda sweetner instead. It was quite the tasty treat! Unfortunatly we forgot to "spray" the mugs ahead of time and had to soak them overnight! LOL! That's ok...the family really enjoyed this treat!

I made this for a surprise breakfast for my daughter's 9th birthday today. It turned out really good, even though I had to substitute a couple of things because I didn't have any milk or oil. I can't wait to make it as per the directions. I'm sure it will be perfect! Thanks again for a GREAT recipe!!

Glad you had fun with this recipe..... you can change the chip flavors for another fun recipe.
Have good day! Thanks for the comment. susie

Just made this recipe again, using all the correct ingredients. It tastes even better! The only thing is the chocolate chips all sank to the bottom, so I have a puddle of chocolate ooze at the bottom of the mug. I'm not saying that's a BAD thing...just not what was expected. Still...super YUMMMMM!!!!

My son and I made this today for an after school treat. He chose butterscotch chips. We both thought it was very good. He gave it 5 forks...I gave it 4 due to it's eggy taxture. I'm thinking of dividing the egg between 2 of these and it should be just right. :)

I tried this again this weekend. Made one for my hubby and one for myself except after beating the egg, I divided it evenly between the two cakes. (I used medicine cups to make sure it was equal amounts). It was much better and less eggy in my opinion. Very chocolaty w/ a nice texture. I'll definitly be making it again! :)

I would like to add that I used only 1 egg for the two cakes, dividing the one evenly between the two cakes. :)

I found this recipe on the 'Reviews' page and I made it last night for my teen daughter! It worked great! I used a 10 oz. mug. I didn't have cake flour so I used regular flour. I didn't have cocoa powder so I used 1/2 a packet of hot cocoa mix w/mini marshmellows. I also took Twilightdawnings advice below...and used all of her alterations. This was very good! It came out like a light chocolate cake because I didn't use the cocoa powder...as you can see in my photo, but it tasted very good! I can't wait to try this again! This is a really cool recipe!

Wow, look at all the reviews by the people that actually MADE the cake! I think this is a great idea and something my kids will love to take part in! Will definitely make soon!

Perfect for us seniors who live alone!

make this and then we are not stuck with a huge cake and have to eat the whole thing by ourselves and gain weight...not to mention the cholesterol...

Great, thanx.

It certainly rates a 5.

Am drooling mmmmmmmmmmmmm mmm

Alterations

After making this a few times, I've come up with a few alterations that make it closer to "real" cake in texture. First, to eliminate the "egginess" of the cake, lightly beat the egg, then add only 1 Tbs of egg to the mug. I scramble cook the rest of the egg and give it to my cats or my macaw. Second, add a pinch of baking powder and the tiniest little pinch of salt with the dry ingredients. All in all, this is a GREAT way to have chocolate cake any time you want it!
