Collards in homemade BBQ sauce

- 1 lb collard greens, destemmed and chopped shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups ketchup shopping list
- 1/2 cup water shopping list
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar shopping list
- 1 small onion, chopped shopping list
- 2 tbsp. lemon juice shopping list
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar OR apple cider vinegar shopping list
- 1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce shopping list
- 1 clove garlic, minced shopping list
- 1 tsp. spicy brown mustard shopping list
- 1/4 tsp. hot sauce shopping list
How to make it
- Boil the collard greens for 25 min, meanwhile make the BBQ sauce.
- For the BBQ sauce: In a medium saucepan, combine the rest of the ingredients, bring to a boil. Reduce the heat, cover and simmer for 15 min. Stir occasionally while cooking.
- Drain the collards and toss with the BBQ sauce. Serve warm as a side dish.
- You may have more BBQ sauce than you need. Use as much as you like, store the rest in a ziplock in freezer. Great for using with any meat.
