Ingredients

1/3 - cup butter

1- cup molasses

1/2-cup buttermilk

1- 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1- egg

2- cups cake flour

2-teaspoons ground ginger

1-teaspoon salt

Directions

put the butter and molasses in a pan and heat it until it boils,

remove from heat and stir in the milk and soda, along with the well beaten egg....

dont forget to sift the rest of the dry ingredients together.....

then add them to the milk mixture

bake in a hot waffle iron for 1 minute, turn off the power and leave them in the iron for 2- 3 minutes longer

serve with crushed fruit and whipped cream on top ( or a scoop of vanilla ice-cream and fruit)

makes 7- 8 waffles

I know this is meant for a dessert, but they also work well with a fried egg and maple syrup. Only way I can describe the taste to you is, "Imagine sitting in a cozy B&B in Vermont, looking out on a clear winter day."

This one is a keeper. I'll be back later. Gotta go for a x-country ski.
