Ingredients
  • 9.6 oz. powdered dry milk (about 5 cups)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp. cocoa powder
  • 200 gr. butter (almost 2 sticks)
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • creme wafers, crushed, for rolling the candy in

Directions
  1. In a medium saucepan add water, sugar, cocoa powder and butter. Simmer and stir on low heat until sugar dissolves and butter is melted.
  2. Take off the heat and stir in vanilla extract and walnuts.
  3. Let cool for a few minutes, then mix in powdered milk one cup at a time. Mix well.
  4. Refrigirate this mixture for about 60 minutes. The mixture will harden.
  5. Remove from fridge. Use a tablespoon to scoop out little balls. Mold them into pyramids and roll in crushed creme wafers. Put in mini cupcake paper cups (optional). Store in the fridge. Candy is better the next day, once it sat in the fridge overnight.
  6. *Note: This will be very easy to mold into any desired shape. Makes about 60 candies, so can be cut in half.

Julia,
Thanks so much for this recipe! Sounds good enough for a five from me. I'm going to share this with my friend who hosts a children's "cookie party" every holiday season if you don't mind.

If I had any children, I'd love to teach them things in the kitchen. Great recipe from a great mom :-)

Oh my goodness, these look delicious! Thanks for a "5" fork sweet!!!

How cute and fun, Julia! I love letting kids help in the kitchen. It makes for such a good time. My mom and grandma used to let me help - even from a very young age and I think being in the kitchen with them, having fun and being a part of a finished dish that people ooohed and ahhhed over gave me my love for cooking. I am forever appreciative to those two precious ladies for being so patient, loving and attentive to me. I couldn't have had two better teachers.

*sigh*....and *smiles*

It's all good. *hugs* ~Vickie

P.S. High 5 - and thanks!
