Layered penne with ham mushrooms and peas

- 1/4 cup of butter shopping list
- 1 cup of sliced fresh mushrooms shopping list
- 3 tbsp of red bell pepper, chopped shopping list
- 3 tbsp of green onion shopping list
- 2 tbsp of flour shopping list
- 1/2 tsp of white pepper shopping list
- 1 tsp of Dijon mustard shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1 cup chicken broth shopping list
- 2 cups diced cooked ham shopping list
- 1 cup of small peas defrosted shopping list
- 6 ounces of penne cooked and drained shopping list
- 1 cup of ricotta shopping list
- 1 cup shredded swiss cheese shopping list
- 1/4 cup of grated parmesan shopping list
How to make it
- Melt butter in sauce pan.
- Add mushrooms, red pepper and onions; cook unti tender.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in flour and pepper, blend til smooth.
- Add mustard.
- Gradually add milk and broth.
- Heat to boil and boil one minute whisking all the while.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir in ham and peas.
- Place one cup of sauce on bottom of 9 inch square pan.
- Layer half the penne over sauce.
- Spread with 1/2 of ricotta, half remaining sauce, half the swiss and half the parmesan cheese.
- Repeat penne, ricotta and sauce.
- Cover with foil and bake 375 for 30 minutes.
- Uncover and bake 10 minutes more.
- Sprinkle with remaining swiss and parmesan cheese.
- Let stand ten minutes before serving.
- The residual heat will melt the other cheese.
- Serves six.
