Wonderful! I have not been to Bookbinders for more years than I'd like to own up to but remember the bliss of their pie. The addition of cinnamon to the pastry is part of what makes the entire bite so special.

Thank you for a great recipe... five forks

I can vouch for this! Found the recipe in the mid-80's I think...made it for family and it became legend. However, I eventually forgot about it until someone requested it. Took it to Thanksgiving and everyone said it was the best pie they'd ever had. Thank you for posting it...that's a lot of typing!

Is this Bookbinders as in Philadelphia? Used to pass by there almost every day when I lived on my way to classes. Thanks for posting this, Ray!

Being from Old Original Philadelphia, the Old Original Bookbinder's name stopped me dead in my tracks, ray! OMG this is divine. My thanks and my 550, ray.

Sounds like a delicious apple pie to me - and pretty as well. I like the sour cream add to the filling. Your alternate version sounds good, too. Thanks for sharing...

Good to see you back, Ray! Pie looks delish! Am bookmarking for use this fall.

Nice

Sounds like my 'Almost Aunt Carol's (that's a story for another day) sour cream apple pie, and I know that's delicious, so this is an obvious winner! Your picture has me salivating. I wish I had a slice of this right now. Thanks for sharing! - Natalie
