Million Dollar Chicken

Recipe by Liezel: Million Dollar Chicken#
Recipe is already in the reviews profile but didn't have a link, so here it is.
Recipe is still outstanding. Used home made chutney and jam and onion soup powder. Used a cut up frier chicken.
Paired it with Mdc Country Potatoes, my own recipe. It is a glazed chunked potato recipe using pan drippings from Liezel's chicken or a couple other options listed in the recipe.

Wow, that is one popular recipe. It certainly has some different ingredients. Thank you for linking it back here, pso. Lovely pictures!

I've come across this recipe a couple times in my bookmarks when looking for a chicken breast recipe, but it always seems like I never have the chicken pieces for it. This looks so good though! Think I'll put this on the list for in a couple weeks...

That was a string without a link. Knew it was in there somewhere. I hooked up Liezel's recipe with one.
All the talk about bookmarks made me go back and look at the first recipe I made for the IMI group. This is the one.

Thanks for the reminder. It is a good one, and as Frankieanne says, it does have some different ingredients. :) Will move to the short list. :)

Geez, that one has been made a lot.
Its OK, pso. I'd rather have three strings than none. :)

This was delicious as I knew it would be! Instead of apricot jam, I used mango jam. I removed the skin from the thighs and breast because I didn't want the sauce to be to fatty since I was serving it over brown rice. The chicken was moist and tender and has a ton of flavor! Next time I will make my own chutney since it's so easy, and cheaper....Added my pic :)

Home made chutney and jam should work just fine.
Last time I made this I used a home made apple-tomato chutney and tomato jam. It was still wonderful.
Removing the skin is a good idea too.

Did you two find white onion soup powder? I don't think I've ever seen that before.

I think any flavor of chutney and jam would work well in this!
I just used a packet of onion soup mix....I thought that's what she meant because I have never seen white onion soup powder either!

O.K. Now that I have all this straight in my mind... I think now? It looks like a great recipe:)
Points, Do you have your own onion soup powder mix posted possibly? It might be something that I can maybe make and greatly reduce the salt content in? Which would be really great for me and other people who can't handle much salt.

Not my recipe. It's on from here at GR. Onion Soup Mix.
I quadruple the recipe when made and keep it in an acrylic airtight container along with my other dry goods. It has no salt. It does cake a little when left undisturbed for a while but breaks up easily enough.
There is a full page of dry onion soup mix recipes here at GR but they are all exactly the same.
One could make it up a batch at a time too. All ingredients should be staples in your spice rack.

I'm sure you must be able to find chutney in a grocery store near you MrP. At my grocery store it's found in the Indian Food Section. I say try find some first as opposed to subbing something for it. Maybe you'll become the Chutney King. :) I haven't tried a lot of chutneys but I buy ones with some heat to them, not just sweet.

    Thanks so much Points:)
I have found chutney in the sauce and condiment section and have also found it in the Indian and the jelly section as well. I guess it just depends on what flavour etc. you are looking for?

I made this last week. Went to my local store ( 1 block away) to look for chutney and couldnt find it. Ask the girl at the store and she didnt know what it was. So I came home and figured I would sub extra jam. In looking thru the pantry I found a jar of pear chutney that a friend had given me. Go figure. I remember now, but must have tossed it with the jelly when putting it away. Anyway, I made this and added cayenne to heat t up a bit. This was really good. I actually liked it better cold. Finger licking good. THanks for the heads up Points.
