Easy Gourmet Italian Hamburgers Recipe
Delicious and easy homemade gourmet burgers! I accidentally adapted this recipe from a post from Wizzrea. Tastes like tomato pesto, but less hassle...YUM!!!

Ingredients
  • 1 lb hamburg
  • 1 cup red onion, diced
  • 1 tsp beef base
  • 1 can diced tomatoes, squeeze water out through cheese cloth or paper towel (IN SINK)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup fresh basil, chopped finely
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 slices provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 4 buns
  • fresh ground pepper to taste

Directions
  1. Drain most of the water out of the canned tomatoes through a paper towel, put in small saucepan.
  2. Add 3/4 cup of chopped onion,1 clove minced garlic, 1/2 cup basil, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
  3. Sautee over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Remove from heat + let cool some.
  5. In a bowl, combine hamburg, tomato mixture, remaining 1/4 cup onion, and beef base. Mix by hand until well-blended.
  6. In a separate container, mix mayo, garlic and remaining 1/4 cup basil, and set aside.
  7. Form hamburg mixture into 4 burgers and fry/grill 5 minutes each side, or less/more time for desired done-ness.
  8. Add cheese, mayo, and bun (recommend grilled) for a delicious gourmet burger!

Yum, thanks, love burgers.


What I mean about the basil is to use 1 cup basil, and THEN chop it finely. Otherwise, that would be A LOT of basil!! :) This has become a new favorite of our household. Thanks Wizzrea!

I like this with ground beef it is really tasty
I will be receiving some ground Deer meat, perhaps I could adapt this for the venison.
