How to make it

  • Drain most of the water out of the canned tomatoes through a paper towel, put in small saucepan.
  • Add 3/4 cup of chopped onion,1 clove minced garlic, 1/2 cup basil, olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
  • Sautee over low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove from heat + let cool some.
  • In a bowl, combine hamburg, tomato mixture, remaining 1/4 cup onion, and beef base. Mix by hand until well-blended.
  • In a separate container, mix mayo, garlic and remaining 1/4 cup basil, and set aside.
  • Form hamburg mixture into 4 burgers and fry/grill 5 minutes each side, or less/more time for desired done-ness.
  • Add cheese, mayo, and bun (recommend grilled) for a delicious gourmet burger!

    I like this with ground beef it is really tasty
    I will be receiving some ground Deer meat, perhaps I could adapt this for the venison.

    What I mean about the basil is to use 1 cup basil, and THEN chop it finely. Otherwise, that would be A LOT of basil!! :) This has become a new favorite of our household. Thanks Wizzrea!
