Old- Fashioned Country Green Beans Recipe

Ingredients

1/2 lb bacon ends cut into chunks

2 lbs.green beans, snapped into pieces

1 big onion cut in half and slivered

2 cups water

2 chicken bouillon cubes

1 lb new potatoes

salt and pepper to taste

Directions

Place bacon in a large saucepan. cook til brown

put in green beans

stir to coat with bacon drippings

stir in water and bouillon cubes

bring to a boil

lower heat,cook 20 minutes

stir in slivered onion pieces and cleaned potatos.

salt and pepper to taste,

Simmer 30 more minutes.

This is a whole meal--especially with the cornbread, and it's a mighty good 'un, too. I've "et" stuff like this all my life, and sometimes you need a meal like this that fills your tummy and soothes your soul, rather than some high falutin' gourmet puffy saucy thing that makes you feel like you only "whiffed" your dinner rather than ate it. This is southern cookin' at it's best.
