How to make it

  • combine yeast, water, & sugar-let proof( become frothy) -if you are using yeast fron the fridge you must let it get to room temp.
  • mix ,eggs, milk ,salt , butter and proofed yeast
  • add first 4 c flour
  • mix
  • add rest of flour
  • mix
  • cover the dough & let sit overnight in the fridge
  • punch it down
  • roll it out onto a floured surface
  • cut into 4" x 4" squares
  • fry
  • lay on rack to drain
  • sift powdered sugar over beignets while still hot
  • ENJOY!

    Hi fellow Canadian girl!
    I have never made doughnuts before, but these beignets sound really good. Question, do you need to heat any of the ingredients other than the water for mixing the yeast into? Hope to try these soon. Thanks
