Thanks, Henrie. You never know what others are going through. There have been times that a smile and kind word from a stranger made my day, and times that their harsh words was the straw that broke the camel's back. Smiles and frowns are both contagious. We should remember to spread smiles more often!

I so agree with this, Henrie. When we had the resturant, bad attitude people would come in and be so darn rude. I would smile and ask them, now do you feel better after that rude remark and I would smile, and so would they.I made many laugh. Thanks for the great post!

Henrie, the affect of your story for me is two-fold: first, it certainly does reinforce the importance of positive communication and interaction in our everyday lives and second, it helps restore my faith in Generation X! Thank you! X0

What I can't quite understand is why it's so hard for many people to refrain from being rude or exhibiting negative attitudes. I've had my share of bad days, but I am smart enough to recognize that it's not the customer's fault, for example.
You know, even when you're as cranky as you ever get, if you smile at others and just be nice, your whole demeanor changes for the better. It's not always easy to do, but it works.

Thanks, Henrie. I'm copying this and taking it into work on Tuesday and hand it to my boss. We have need of some positive input with all the lay-offs and discouraged downbeat stuff that has happened lately. Perhaps this will be just the jumpstart the office needs.
