How to make it

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F
  • Beat butter at medium speed w/electric mixer until creamy(5-7 mins)
  • Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed until light & fluffy
  • Butter will turn to a fluffy white.
  • Add eggs one at a time, beating until yellow yolk disappears.
  • Add flour to creamed mixture alternately with whipping cream.
  • Start with flour and ending with flour
  • Beat at low speed until blended after each addition
  • Batter should be smooth, no lumps
  • Stir in vanilla & almond extracts with a spatula
  • Use vegetable shortening or butter to grease pan well
  • Sprinkle with a light coating of flour over greased surface
  • Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 40 minutes
  • Cool on rack for about 15 minutes.
  • Remove from pan and cool completely on a wire rack

    Making this today Jett! I'll let you know how much I love it ('cause I know I will!) Not eating it 'til Saturday though - Mother-in-law's birthday. Doing something special with it. I'll let you know that after I've done it too! X0

    I made this, took it to a party, came home with only two pieces!! It was absolutely delicious. I drizzled a lemon juice, powdered sugar, almond glaze over the cake, then covered the crown with toasted sliced almonds! Wonderful, wonderful! Thanks, jett. :) :)
