Ingredients
  • 1 Tbsp. ground bay leaves
  • 2-1/2 tsp. celery salt
  • 1-1/2 tsp. dry mustard
  • 1 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. ground white pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 1/4 tsp. crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 tsp. ground mace
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cardamom

Directions
  1. Combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly. Store in an airtight container and store in a cool place. Use with seafood, chicken or french fries. Makes about 1/4 cup

Great Post!! I love cooking with spices and adding little dashes of spice at the end, to add that extra zip!


I like this recipe but I'll leave it to Mr. Old Bay himself and save myself the work :-) LOL!!! I know, I know, not everybody can get their hands on the good ole stuff and thats why you still get my High 5 for it :-)

I have noticed that oftentimes the Old Bay Seasoning is displayed near the meat department in grocery stores. I have an old can of it...should probably toss if out and get a new one!


I'm am so happy to see this! I love 'Old Bay'. I put it on lots. Krumkake puts it in her smoked salmon spread. and is it yummy


I love these "make your own" mixes - so handy and so much more economical...we use Old Bay quite a bit, so this will be a good "trial" to test - thanks for the share!


Thanks for the spice mix. I like Old Bay or Chesapeake Bay spice and neither are available in New Zealand. This will be savoured and enjoyed and loved and ......... MMMMMMM:)
