Ingredients
  • 1lb Kataifi dough
  • 1 cup ghee or butter, melted
  • ½ cup hazelnuts, toasted
  • 1 cup syrup

Directions
  1. Spread Kataifi dough over your work surface, making sure that you don’t leave any empty spaces between dough strips. Brush with 2 tbsp of the melted ghee. Spread hazelnuts in the middle of the spread dough. Roll the dough from the bottom to the top as you see in the pictures and transfer to a 26cm round baking pan and make a spiral shape with the rolled log. Repeat the same process until you fill the entire pan. Pour the rest of the melted ghee over the logs and bake for 30 minutes until golden brown. Drain melted ghee in another bowl and pour the syrup over the hot baked Kataifi. Set aside until cooled and drain excess syrup then take out of the pan. Cut 2 inch pieces with a serrated knife and transfer to a serving platter.

They had this lastnight at the masjid for iftaar! It looked good, but I did not get to try it. I can't wait to try it. Your photo of this treat looks very yummy! :0)

Hi, Ahmed!! Lovely recipe. Might I ask -- is this type of dough the same as what we know as PHYLLO pastry? It looks like it! Thanks for sharing, and HIGH FIVE! :+D

Hi Ahmed, I make these, too. The only difference is that I make them as individual pieces which is very time consuming! Also I add cinammon and sugar to the nuts. I like your idea for when I want to get them done quickly. High 5!

How beautiful, Ahmed. I love the Kataifi dough...wonderful recipe and presentation. Thanks so much, my dear friend. :) vickie

Wow! Another stunner Ahmed! Love the hazelnut idea. I used to live next door to an Arab family and every year when Ramadan was over my family would be invited to celebrate and I would stuff my face with sweets like this one :D Thanks for the lovely memories.
