What makes this beef recipe different then all the others? Sugar! That's right folks! This recipe requires a dry sugar rub before marinading which gives it EXCELLENT flavor. If you want to go the authentic Korean route, serve with Kimchi, rice, sp... More

Ingredients
  • 3 lbs beef flank steak (or anything you've got) sliced very thin (if there is a Korean market near you they should have pre-sliced rib-eye specifically ready for this recipe. You can also ask your butcher or just do it yourself).
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 3 leeks (green onions)
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 small yellow onion
  • Sesame oil

Directions
  1. Take beef and rub with brown sugar.
  2. Let the beef sit in large vessel (bowl, container, etc...) for 30 minutes.
  3. While letting the beef sit with the sugar rub, julienne the carrots and chop the green and yellow onions.
  4. Add soy sauce and veggies and stir until all is coated with soy sauce.
  5. Put in the refrigerator and let marinade for 30 minutes (best to let it marinade over night but if you don't have the time :-) ).
  6. Heat up sesame oil in a skillet over medium high heat.
  7. cooking the meat and veggies with the marinade one-two servings at a time (since the meat is so thinly cut, it should cook very fast).
  8. Serve with sticky rice and eat :-)

Great recipe! High FIVE :+D

I used to eat this often when I was in college. Thanks for posting this recipe!

Thanks for posting this recipe. My mom is korean and I've missed her cooking so much! I can't wait to make this.

Sounds good. My daughters college room-mate from Korea taught her to make a meal where you marinated the beef in a similar sauce, dredged in flour and deep fried, then you rolled with rice noodles, mint and cilantro in rice paper. You also dip it in a peanut sauce. It was soooo good, but I don't know what it would be called. This sounds great also.

Sounds really good, saving to make one day. You have my 5 also. Thanks for the friend invite, look forward to sharing recipes with you.

Thanks. Will make it for Jian tonight. High 5...

This sounds & looks fantastic & I can't wait to try it out myself. Thanks & 5 forks

Can't hardly wait to make it. It has been a few years since I have had some. I lived in Korea for two years and ate just about everything Korean.
