Ingredients

How to make it

  • 1. Put everything but the oil, flour and chili powder in a blender and puree.
  • 2. Heat oil in large 2-quart saucepan; stir in flour and chili powder; cook for 1 minute.
  • 3. Add remaining ingredients bring to a boil and simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Makes 3 cups sauce.

    Made this for some cheesy chicken enchilada soup.
    Has good flavor. Does not make 3 cups. After 10 minute simmer it is only 2 cups. But that's all I needed.

    Used this to make Wynnebaer’s Enchilada Casserole and it was such a delicious sauce! What a fantastic and supremely easy to make alternative to canned enchilada sauce (which I’ve never really cared for). The only variation for me was using 8 oz from a can of crushed tomatoes, because that is what I had on hand. Absolutely perfect – this is my “go to” sauce from now on! Thanks for the awesome recipe!

    Thank-you for supplying a "5"FORK!!!!! recipe
    for Enchilada Sauce~ The sauce in cans
    is just awful!(in my opinion)
    In the past I have resorted to using the dry
    mix that comes in a 'packet'(yes-I remember
    how much you dislike the DREADED packet!!!)
