Ingredients
  • 1½ pound ground sirloin
  • 1½ pound ground chuck
  • 3 (1.25 ounce) packages taco seasoning mix
  • 3 cups water or beef broth
  • 24 INDIVIDUAL SIZE bags of tortilla chips
  • TOPPING INGREDIENTS:
  • 3 (15 ounce) cans black beans, seasoned or regular
  • 6 cups finely shredded lettuce
  • 3 cups salsa and/or taco sauce
  • 3 pints sour cream
  • 3 cups guacamole
  • 6 cups grated Mexican Four Cheese (or any other cheese)
  • 3 cups finely diced tomato
  • 3 cups finely diced onion
  • 2 cups sliced black olives
  • plenty of sliced jalapenos

Directions
  1. Fry ground meat in a large skillet.
  2. When meat is browned, add taco seasoning mix and water or broth.
  3. Simmer for about 10 minutes, until liquid is reduced down.
  4. This is where the fun begins!
  5. Keep the meat mixture hot in a crock-pot.
  6. Have all the topping ingredients next to the crockpot, so each person can make their own “walking taco”.
  7. Instruct everyone to crush an individual size bag of taco chips for themselves, then open it up and start adding in all the toppings they want (or can get in the bag), starting with the meat first.
  8. When they have their toppings in the bag, fold over the top and shake vigorously. Open the bag, grab a fork, and walk around with your meal in your hand!

Krum, you have done it now....I have to have this for the next fundraiser for Tyler's memorial fund. I can do this in the crock pot and have all the fixing's so the kids can do the games of chance and we can raise money for the fund!!! This will replace the frito pie/chili in a bag for next year. BIG THANKS, HONEY!!! We are always looking for cheap and easy eats to feed a crowd and make some dough for the "FUND" Bless you. We have sent over a dozen kids a year to summer camp in memory of Tyler. It is why I work overtime. Love this idea.

I think I need to be invited to your get togethers!!!! Awesome. I saw a Rachel Ray special where she hosted a community block party and did something similar. She also did a "pizza bar" with mini pizza doughs and bowls of different toppings. I love it! I agree...let people customize and chat with one another...like the good ol' days!!!

We did something something like this (after Church) for fund raiser also... great idea and easy money.. great taste! Bravo!!!

Not only is this one great for fundraisers but a mess free taco night for the grandkids. Thanks Krumkake you came through for us again!!!

Never met a taco I didn't like. Adding this to my Keepers!

I've never had these and they sound SO good! Are we doing a tailgate this year? Do we have time?!?

Katie just ate one for me at the Little League ball park, while she was visiting family in the Lower 48. Glad to see you posted this, it was on my to do list(that I haven't gotten to yet!)

Our church is always looking for simple tasty foods for church socials this one sounds perfect.

Sounds like college food! We used to run down to the 7-11 and get a big bag of Fritos. Split that open and dump chili and nacho cheese sauce on it and you got one great snack - cheap! Thanks for posting.

What a fun idea! I was looking for something to make for my husbands potluck for work. I think I have found a winner!
